Story
Inspired by Balkan football-party energy and filtered through a California pop-punk lens, Bosnia, Welcome to America flips the invitation into a friendly American welcome: accordion hooks, stomp-beat momentum, SoCal guitars, brass accents, and a stadium-ready chorus about football, friendship, memes, chowder, and two cultures turning a match into a celebration. Win or lose, the song is less about rivalry than hospitality; Bosnia came to America, so America wrote back.
Lyrics
Bosnia, welcome to America!
[Verse 1]
I am American — welcome to America
You brought that Balkan thunder and a little mass hysteria
From Sarajevo streets to the city by the Gate
First time in the knockouts — man, we gotta celebrate
Let the Scots keep Boston, they drank it dry anyway
Bring your blue and gold, we'll gladly give you the Bay
Round of thirty-two awaits, have a IPA and bowl of chowder
We'll Waymo to Santa Clara, and see who screams louder
[Pre-Chorus]
Win or lose, we raise it high
Different flags in the same blue sky
From Sarajevo to the Bay
Everybody sing today!
[Chorus]
One day when you cross the sea
One day I think you'll agree
Win or lose, we're still a meme
Livin’ the American dream
One day when you cross the sea
One day I think you'll agree
Different flags, but the same dream
Two cultures, one big family
[Post-Chorus]
Whoa-oh-oh, hey!
Whoa-oh-oh, hey!
Bosnia to America!
America says hey!
[Verse 2]
So whatever happens Wednesday, we'll be brothers when it's through
Buy you a beer, you buy one back, that's what good neighbors do
There'll be no kilts, no rowing, but plenty of ways to celebrate
Then “goodbye” and “see you soon” — got the Olympics in twenty-eight
If we make it to the round of sixteen, you're welcome to join the mania
I may even have an extra ticket — bring the other guy Herzegovina
So from the Bay to L.A., friend, the welcome never ends
We came as two countries — we're leaving here as friends
[Final Chorus]
One day when you cross the sea
One day I think you'll agree
Win or lose, we're still a meme
Livin’ the American dream
One day when you cross the sea
One day I think you'll agree
Different flags, but the same dream
Two cultures, one big family
[Outro]
From the Bay to L.A.!
From Bosnia to the Bay!
Two cultures, one big family!
Hey!
